Welcome to the website of the jury of the Swiss Blues Awards. Here you will find all information about the award, as well as the results of all past nominations and awards.

The Swiss Blues Award was established in 2003 by the Bluesfestival Basel and honours people or institutions in Switzerland who have made an extraordinary contribution to the blues scene as artists or promoters. The prize is awarded annually on the first evening of the festival. The choice is made by an independent jury of experts.

Marco Marchi

With 200 gigs a year, Marco Marchi is one of the hardest working men in the Swiss blues biz. Born in Milan, he earned his musical spurs in bands of every stylistic hue. But since the guitarist and singer put down roots in Ticino, he has been indulging in his great love - the various blues styles from the first half of the 20th century. With his Mojo Workers, founded in 2009, Marco Marchi tours in changing line-ups, skillfully interpreting classics from the Mississippi Sheiks to Robert Johnson, and writing exciting, genre-true original compositions. Marco Marchi won the Swiss Blues Challenge in Geneva in 2011 and was then allowed to travel with his band as the first Swiss representative to Memphis to the International Blues Challenge.

Justina Lee Brown

Justina Lee Brown

Hendrix Ackle

For two decades, keyboardist Hendrix Ackle will be familiar to most blues lovers because of his outstanding, sensitive Hammond organ playing in Philipp Fankhauser's band. But the 51-year-old from Baden also acts with curiosity and bravura in many other exciting musical projects. After his apprentice and touring years with Cyrano, Betty Legler and Michael von der Heide, Ackle teamed up with American bassist Richard Cousins to explore the intersections of soul, blues, funk and pop with the Hendrix Cousins formation. Hendrix Ackle also proved that his talent is not limited to fat organ sounds with his sensational solo album "Logbook," which shows him to be a shrewd singer, gifted songwriter and accomplished pianist.
